Oral Bible Resources Since the beginning of 2005 we have been engaged in developing oral resources for use in ministry to Cambodian people. It is estimated that between 60 and 70 percent of all Cambodian peoples are functionally illiterate. That means that they do not learn well by studying books or by listening to teachings based on outlines or sermons with 'points'. Rather, they learn almost entirely by hearing stories. This presents a specific challenge to missionaries and church planters who are primarily trained in western, literate approaches to preaching and teaching. In order to meet the demand for a relevant and understandable message, we have been developing sets of oral Bible stories to use for evangelism, discipleship and minister training. It is our fervent prayer that many people who cannot read will hear the Message of the Good News and believe, and eventually be trained to minister to others as pastors and teachers. Like the apostles of Jesus himself, we desire to see 'untaught' men turning this world upside-down with their teaching! It is our pleasure to share these materials freely and to receive feedback to improve them. The stories are straight from the Khmer Bible with modifications to facilitate story-telling and for understandability. Although written in Khmer originally, we also have translations in English to assist missionaries who are still working on getting a handle on the language.
