September 2006 E-Newsletter Ministry Update: O'Russey Market Area Dear Ministry Partners, So much has transpired over the last 6 months that I hardly know where to begin! To try to include everything in one update would surely be overwhelming. Instead, we will be sending four consecutive updates over the next few weeks to bring you up to speed with all that's been happening. This first installment will focus on developments in the O'Russey Market area ministry. Over the past few months we have seen progress in the work but challenges remain, for which we appeal to you to stand with us in prayer. God Reveals His Power I recently hosted a short-term team from Hong Kong for two days of prayer-walking and witnessing in the O'Russey Market area. The time went well and it was good to have some more prayer focus for a couple of days. On the second day with the team I visited with an older woman who owns a food shop inside the market. Over the past year I have built a relationship with her and her family and have started to share Christ with them. About a month ago I told her about a mountain in Kampot Province called Bokor Mountain, and told her how nice it was and that she should visit. When I saw her in the market she came running up to me all excited and began telling me about a trip she had made to Bokor! She had rented a taxi with some friends and went there for the day and she was surprised at how cool it was. Suddenly the clouds moved in and mist began falling - they couldn't even see 3 meters in front of them! So they got back in the car and started off down the mountain. She was quite fearful because of the poor visibility so she prayed to Jesus - the God with supreme power - asking Him to help. Suddenly the clouds parted and they could see clearly to drive down the mountain! She was so excited that God immediately answered her prayer and now she's telling everyone of the power of Jesus! I am praying that I will be able to lead her to the Lord now that she has had this experience but pray that she will be able to walk away from all her other gods. God's Sending More Laborers In June I had a unique opportunity to go to Malaysia to share about the need of the Chinese-Cambodians in the O'Russey Market area with the hope of recruiting workers. After five days and more than 20 meetings I was satisfied that I had planted seeds for more workers in the future. Well, just last week we hosted two ladies from Kuching, Malaysia who came to Cambodia on a scouting mission to see the needs of the Chinese for themselves after hearing me share with them in June. One of the women whose name is Catherine is now making plans to come to Cambodia to join us in reaching the Chinese for Christ! Please pray as she prepares to serve the Lord here with us! Additionally, since we have been praying and sharing about the five unreached Chinese-Cambodian people groups here in Cambodia, there have been two other missionaries who have decided to answer the Lord's call to work to reach them. We believe this is a direct answer to our prayers and yours! Points For Prayer - Demolish more spiritual strongholds
- Openness to the gospel - to establish an initial small group
- More laborers - especially a partner for Dale
